Make no mistake about it, there will be plenty of offense on display this evening when the Howard College men’s and women’s basketball teams take to the court at the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum to face off against Odessa College.
There could also be a few changes in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference men’s standings when the smoke clears. The Howard College and Odessa College men enter tonight’s game tied for second in the WJCAC standings with 3-1 records.

Coahoma icon Quail Dobbs dies

COAHOMA — There might be some people more well-liked, respected or loved more than Quail Dobbs.

Good luck trying to find them.

Dobbs, who brought joy to thousands as a Hall of Fame rodeo clown, good will ambassador for this community and all-around good guy, died Wednesday after battling a lengthy illness. He was 72.

Tony Randall Partee, 54, of Big Spring, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, in Ruidoso, N.M. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Pastor Wade Cobb officiating. Private family interment will follow.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 14, 1959, in Odessa, Texas. Tony graduated from Big Spring High School and attended trade school, learning the art of welding. He worked as a welder on the Gulf Coast and in the oil field.

Patricia Gail Hodges

Patricia Gail Hodges, 73, Midland, Texas, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, in Lubbock, Texas.

She was born Jan. 30, 1940, in Grand Falls, Texas, to Clifford G. and Lydia West. She graduated from Knott High School, Knott, Texas. She married Alvis Harlan Hodges on April 19, 1958. She worked at Powell Printing Company in Midland for more than 40 years. Pat loved to cook and sew and tend to her family. She doted on her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church.

Jimmy Bledsoe, Sr., 60, of Big Spring, died Tuesday Jan. 14, 2014, at Texas Specialty Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday Jan. 17, 2014, at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel. Dr. Doug Shelley will officiate.
