Sondra âYogiâ Williams, 50, of Big Spring, died Thursday Jan. 23, 2014, at her residence. Memorial services will be at a later date.
She was born in Big Spring Jan. 19, 1964, to Merly Mae and Oscar Jackson. She was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. She was a member of the GOGC New Life Church.
Dorothy Mildred Bloom passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at her residence. Dorothy wished her body be donated to medical science and research. A celebration of Dorothyâs life will be at the Spring Creek Fellowship Church in Big Spring, Texas, Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at 3 p.m. Floral tributes may be sent to Dorothyâs family home at 1902 Goliad, and friends and other family are welcome and encouraged to gather there and visit as well.
Funeral mass for Zachariah Dylan Perez of Lenorah, Texas, has been set for 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Grady High School Gym with Father Tio officiating. Interment will follow at St. Josephâs Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary Vigil will be held Saturday and Sunday Jan. 25 and 26, 2014, at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 7 p.m.
Zachariah was born Jan. 1, 1992, in Midland, Texas, and passed away Jan. 23, 2014, in Big Spring, Texas. Zachariah graduated in 2010 from Grady High School. He was a resident of Lenorah, Texas and worked for RK Pump and Supply.
Athol Jesse Atkins, 83, of Midland, passed away Saturday Jan. 18, 2014, at his home. HeÂ was born to T.B. and Era AtkinsÂ in Potter, Texas, onÂ March 1, 1930. The Atkins family later moved to Big Spring, Texas, where the family established themselves in the community. Jess earned a B.A. from Baylor University and an M.A. from North Texas State University and laterÂ attendedÂ the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Following his studies, JessÂ returned to Big Spring where he owned and operated WesTex printing, formerly owned by his family.
Janis M. Halstead, 61, formerly of Big Spring and a long-time Tucson, Ariz., resident, passed peacefully and gracefully into the loving arms of God on Jan. 22, 2014, after a prolonged illness.
She was born Sept. 22, 1952, in Big Spring, Texas, to Richard and Betty Reagan. Janis was employed as the farm operations administrator at Al-Marah Arabians for 20 years and was a long-time member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She will always be remembered by friends, customers, co-workers and family for her joie-de-vivre, good heart, spirited nature and Christian compassion.
A Big Spring man was indicted on a murder charge following this week's session of the Howard County Grand Jury.
