With state and municipal elections only a few months away, officials are urging Howard County residents to make sure they are properly registered to vote.
February 3 is the final day to register to vote or make a change of address before the March 3 primary election, Bloom noted.

O. V. "Van" Glaze, 91, of Stanton died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, in a Midland hospital. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Downtown Church of Christ in Stanton. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.
He was born Jan. 22, 1923, in Rowden, Texas and married Lucille "Lucy" Varner June 7, 1942, in Lamesa, Texas. She preceded him in death Nov. 23, 2012.

The Big Spring High School Steers swim team added to their impressive resume this past weekend with a solid outing at the District 4-4A meet. The team qualified two relay teams for the upcoming Region I Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Howard College menâ€™s and womenâ€™s basketball teams will return to action this evening when they take to the Harold Davis Court at the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum to face off with rival Western Texas College.
