Trio arrested on drug charges

Narcotics officers with the Big Spring Police Department continued their busy month Monday with a drug bust that resulted in three arrests.

Brittany Clayton, 27, of Spenser, Okla., Eddie Ray Hunter Clayton, 28, of Oklahoma City and Linger James Evans, 52, of Cordova, Calif., were all charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, according to information released by BSPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Tony Everett.

College awards convocation tonight

Howard College will honor the hard work of many of its students tonight at its annual awards convocation.

“Each year we try to take time out during the busy semester and recognize our students for their hard work and dedication to their educational goals,” said Dr. Cheryl Sparks, Howard College president. “We encourage the public to join us as we reward these students and congratulate them on a job well done.”

The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. in the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum, 1001 Birdwell Lane.

Cecil Douglas Hoard

Cecil Douglas Hoard, 59, of Big Spring, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at his residence. Private family services will be at a later date.

He was born on July 1, 1954 in Big Spring. He spent most of his life in Howard County and also worked most of his life in the oil field. He married Cynthia Othman in Big Spring in 1985.

Ann C. Hayes, 72, of Big Spring, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Private family services will be at a later date.

Santos M. Duron

April 15, 2014

Santos M. Duron, 90, of Big Spring, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at his daughter's residence in San Antonio. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
Santos was born Nov. 1, 1923, in Big Spring, and married Virginia Vela, Sept. 27, 1952, in Big Spring.

Forsan, Miles slated to play for District 6-A lead tonight

The Forsan High School Buffaloes and Miles Bulldogs will get the playoff atmosphere started a bit earlier this evening when they square off in a key District 6-A matchup in Forsan. The two teams enter tonight’s 7 p.m. showdown tied for the top spot in the district standings with identical 6-1 records.
