Michael Brown

April 24, 2014

Michael Brown, 64, of Big Spring, died Monday April 21, 2014, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Chapel with Lloyd Wells, associate pastor of Spring Creek Fellowship, officiating.

He was born to Bennie Inez and Norman Odell Brown in San Bernardino, Calif. on June 28, 1949. He came to Big Spring three years ago from California. He was a carpenter and he enjoyed yard work, painting and odds and ends.

Ed Harvell

Ed Harvell, 65, of Canyon died Saturday, April 19, 2014.

Services were held Wednesday in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Dr. G.A. Roach officiating. Burial was in Dreamland Cemetery. Military honors were provided by DAV Chapter 26.

Ed was born Nov. 20, 1948, in Big Spring to Thomas and Elsie Harvell. He graduated from Coahoma High School and served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He attended West Texas State University, where he received his degree in music education. Ed married Sharon Allen on Aug. 13, 1970, in Canyon.

Enrique 'Ricky' Sabedra Jr.

Enrique "Ricky" Sabedra Jr., 44, of Knott, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, in a local hospital. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park, Big Spring.

He was born Jan. 6, 1970 in Edinburg, Texas. Ricky attended schools in Big Spring and Ackerly. He had worked for Lozano's Surity Bail Bond and the TA Travel Center. He enjoyed music and playing the guitar.

The Wylie Bulldogs used a 5-fun outburst in the bottom of the second inning on Tuesday in Abilene to race to a 10-5 victory in the final regular season game for both squads.

Hawks claim 7-6 win over Chaps

The Howard College Hawks’ baseball team scored a run in the top of the eighth inning on Tuesday and then held on to claim a tough 7-6 victory over the Midland College Chaparrals in Western Junior College Athletic Conference action at Christensen Stadium.
