Pops rehearsals begin Tuesday

Chorus rehearsals for this year’s Pops in the Park concert will begin Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church.
“We have a wonderful program planned for this year's Independence Day celebration,” said Dr. Keith Graumann, music director.

Scott “Boudro” Simpson

Scott “Boudro” Simpson, 51, of Big Spring, died Tuesday May 27, 2014 at University Medical Center in Lubbock. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 6 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel.
He was born Nov. 5, 1962, in Big Spring to Barbara and John Simpson. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. He worked as a roughneck in the oilfield until his health failed.

Major De Witt R. Bunn

Major De Witt R. Bunn, 88, of Big Spring, died Thursday May 29, 2014 at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Private family services will be at a later date.
He was born to Isabel and Porter Bunn in Bayonne, N.J. Dec. 7, 1925. He married Carolyn Boyd Dec. 7, 1946 in Atlanta, Ga. He had been in the community since 1964 coming from Taiwan. While in the Air Force he flew combat missions in Korea. He was stationed at Webb Air Force Base until he retired in 1968.

Dr. Frankie E. Williams died May 28, 2014, in Austin, Texas. She was born in Stamford, Texas,, on Aug. 28, 1929, to Edith Cockrell Williams and Carlton Albert Williams.

John Phillip Wilson, 78 went to be with the Lord Friday, May 23, 2014. John was born to James Earl and Gladys Wilson Jan. 21, 1936. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Wilson of Big Spring; his daughter, Valerie Lynn Wilson Gammon and husband, Thomas Austin Gammon of Austin; three grandsons, Phillip Andrew Gammon of Midland, Matthew Douglas Gammon and wife, Valerie Lynn of Dallas and Thomas Wilson Gammon of Austin; one sister, Nancy Ford of Elroy, Utah; one brother, James Edward Wilson; and a cousin, Nadine Hollensed of Tom Bean.

Billy O. Brown, 83, of Ackerly, died Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Sage Health Care Center in Lamesa. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 2, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring.

The family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 a.m. Monday, just prior to services at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

Billy was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Ackerly and married Gracie Oaks Aug. 22, 1951. They made their home and farmed in Ackerly all their life.

Reynaldo 'Rey' Juarez

Reynaldo “Rey” Juarez, 46, of Big Spring, died Saturday May 24, 2014 at University Medical Center in Lubbock. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel, with burial following at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

He was born Aug. 7, 1968, to Lydia and Juan Juarez Sr. in Big Spring. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Until retiring due to ill health, he worked in construction as a roofer.
