A ceremony to honor and remember those who lost their lives during the terroristic attacks on the United States Sept. 11, 2001, and for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country in the fight against terror, will be held this week.

A 9/11 Memorial at the Spring Town Plaza will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday inside the mall by the yellow ribbon display near Sears. City budget hearing Thursday

September 10, 2014

City residents will get a chance to sound off on the proposed budget and tax rate for FY 2015 when the Big Spring City Council meets at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in council chambers, located at 307 E. Fourth.

City leaders have proposed a budget featuring a tax rate of 86.5043 cents per $100 property valuation, which is the same rate as the expiring budget. Because of a huge jump in property valuations, however, the rate is projected to bring in $826,000 more in revenue than it did last year.
