A Catholic funeral service mass will be celebrated for Sabrina Munoz Lozano, 39, of Lamesa, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov . 15, 2014, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating, along with the assistance of Deacon Johnny Arguello of Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Big Spring, Texas. Burial will follow to Mount Olive Cemetery in Big Spring, Texas. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.

Ronnie Jay Peacock

November 14, 2014

Ronnie Jay Peacock, 57, of Ackerly passed away Wednesday at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, in Aspermont Cemetery under the care and direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont.

Ronnie was born in Olney, Texas to Ray and Jean Peacock. He married Ofelia Reyes on March 10, 1977. Ronnie was retired from a construction business he had with his brother, Sammy Peacock.

Virginia Ringener, 88, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at her residence. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at Myers & Smith Chapel with Ken McMeans, pastor of College Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

Thomas McNeal, 84, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, in a local hospital. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.

Festival of Lights prep under way

Preparations for the annual Festival of Lights are entering their final stages, organizers said.

The 18th annual Christmas season attraction, which draws thousands of visitors to Comanche Trail Park, will run from Dec. 15-31, longtime director Pat Simmons said.

But the attraction will get its unofficial start Thanksgiving evening, when the switches are thrown on several lighted poinsettias which will decorate the dam at Comanche Trail Lake. In addition to the poinsettias, a large U.S. flag will also adorn the dam.

St. Andrews Day Celebration set this weekend

Members of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Big Spring are ready to open the doors for their annual St. Andrew’s Day Celebration.

The celebration will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday in the church sanctuary.

Windy Hale Winters

Windy Hale Winters, 37, of Big Spring, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014. The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with J. W. Rainey and Randy Cotton officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

She was born Feb. 23, 1977, to Barbara Lee (Becker) and Donnie Gordon Hale Sr. She had attended Howard College and had worked at H.E.B. She lived most of her life in Big Spring but had also lived in Abilene. She married Heath Winters on June 12, 2002 in Hawley, Texas. She was a Baptist.

Hundreds of area residents attended a patriotic ceremony marking Veteran’s Day at Dorothy Garrett Coliseum.
