Commissioners want to name route after Crooker

November 11, 2014

It’s official.

The Big Spring reliever route will be known forever more as the William B. (Bill) Crooker Truck Relief Route — at least if Howard County commissioners have their way.

“He was a Howard County commissioner here for a long time and was a charter member of the Ports to Plains. It’s only right and very appropriate since he was so instrumental in getting this done,” said County Judge Mark Barr.

e-waste collection set this weekend

November 11, 2014

Christmas is coming and it might be a good time to “upgrade” from that old computer, television or X-box. At the very least, you or a loved one will need a new keyboard and mouse, right?

That brings up the problem of what to do with those aging or breaking down hulks of metal and plastic you won’t want anymore. You’re in luck.

Keep Big Spring Beautiful and the city of Big Spring are sponsoring a weekend of e-waste collection which is open to anyone — individuals, schools, organizations, businesses — anyone.
