Arthur Thomas Barrett, 88, of Abilene, died Wednesday Feb. 19, 2014, at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene.
Andra Adams, 58, of Sweetwater, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in an Abilene hospital. Services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.

The Forsan High School Lady Buffaloes had four players earn postseason honors earlier this month when the District 6-A all-district teams were announced. In all, 22 athletes were recognizes for the efforts by the coaches from the six teams in the district.

The Big Spring Fire Department, in conjunction with the Big Spring Police Department, is investigating a series of dumpster fires that occurred Monday in the southwest part of the city.
According to Fire Marshall Carl Condray, at least five fires were set in both roll out and metal dumpsters in the Coronado Addition in the early morning hours Monday.

Jesse Reed Armistead, age 58, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014, at his home in Houston, Texas. He died peacefully with his mother and sister by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Jane Armistead, brother, John Aubrey Armistead, sister Sheela Bess Armistead, sister and brother-in-law, Jane Dale and Steven Edwards, and granddaughter Hailey Paige Dalton. Jesse is preceded in death by his Father, Aubrey Dale Armistead, and his son Jesse Reed Armistead Dalton.
Fidel Martinez, 57, of Big Spring, Texas, died Saturday March 8, 2014 at University Medical Center in Lubbock. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard L. Gully officiating.

In order for the City of Big Spring to perform essential upgrades to the Water Treatment Plant we will perform a 36-hour shut down on water treatment services. To ensure that there is sufficient water for basic living necessities the City Manager will temporarily ban all non-essential water uses beginning Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 9 p.m.
