Howard College will receive $75,000 of the $325,000 awarded to area colleges from the Permain Basin Workforce Development Board for scholarships aimed at improving child care in Texas.
The Workforce Development Board held a joint press conference in Midland with representatives from Howard, Midland and Odessa colleges to announce the grant.

Orpha Ruth Dennard, 87, died Monday, May 5, 2014, at Hillview Manor in Goldthwaite, Texas. Graveside service was on May 7, 2014 at Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery with Brother Doug Holtzclaw officiating.
Ruth was born Dec. 4, 1926 in Mills County to Clyde and Maggie Moreland Faulkner. She grew up in Goldthwaite and married Charles Dennard her senior year of high school on April 30, 1944.
