Shelley Rachel Lopez, 15, of Big Spring, died Sunday, July 13, 2014 in an Odessa hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Family Faith Center of Big Spring. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring.

Ouida Watznauer

Ouida Watznauer, 81, of Big Spring, died Monday, July 14, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Alive in Christ Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park, Big Spring.

Ouida was born April 29, 1933 in Lubbock, Texas. She loved garage sales and was an avid antique collector. She was well known at the area livestock sale barns because she was the best ticketwriter around for many years. She married C. F. "Ike" Watznauer May 19, 1990 in Big Spring.

She was a member of the Alive in Christ Lutheran Church.

Katherine Woodson Roberts, 96, of Odessa died July 8, 2014 in Benbrook, Texas. She was born Dec. 17, 1917, to Futhie Presley and Cecil Gray Woodson in Crosby, Ark.

She graduated from Coahoma High School in 1936. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louise Roberts.

Competitors ready to glide into Big Spring

“Strongest, smoothest, most consistent conditions of all the major U.S. competitions. Air conditioned pilot lounge, hangar, paved runways, ice cream, water and all facilities.”

That’s how the U.S. Hang Gliding Para Gliding Association (USHPA) describes Big Spring on its website.

According to Airpark Director Jim Little, more than 60 competitors have registered for this year’s event, to be held Aug. 3 to 9, surpassing previous years

Farmer’s Market vendors welcome

Call it a retro idea or the hard copy of the digital version.

Vendors can still sign up to participate in the Elbow Creek Hay & Feed Farmer’s Market which is the physical spin-off of the fledgling, original on-line version — elbowcreek.locallygrown.net.

“We had a lot of interest from our customers to have a more traditional Farmer’s Market,” said Nancy Raney, who co-owns Elbow Creek Hay & Feed with her husband Hugh. “Since opening the feed store, I’ve seen quite a lot of interest in eating healthy, locally grown foods.

Robbin Angela Hutcheson, 50, of Big Spring, died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the Salvation Army.

She was born July 22, 1963 in Ayers, Mass. and married Robert Hutcheson May 22, 1981 in Bastrop, Texas. He preceded her in death August 13, 2013.

She came to Big Spring in 1978 and had worked at Western Hills Animal Clinic.

Shelley was born Sept. 30, 1998, in Odessa. She was a sophomore at Big Spring High School. She enjoyed music and dancing, playing the flute in the band and taking dance since she was five.

1 killed, three injured in rollover

An early Sunday morning crash claimed the life of a Big Spring girl.

Fifteen-year-old Shelly Lopez was killed and three others were hospitalized as the result of injuries received in a one-vehicle rollover shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday on the 1300 block of East Fourth St.
