Corliss Brehm, 59, of Big Spring died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in Lubbock. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with burial at Mt. Olive Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Carmen Ramirez, 62, of Big Spring died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Delores Duncan, 60, of Big Spring died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in Odessa. Services are pending with Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

Big Spring standout guard Luke Adams has been named District 5-3A's Most Valuable Player.
Adams' honor is the biggest for Big Spring as 5-3A's all-district boys' basketball selections were announced today.
Including Adams, the Steers had six players receive honors. Sophomore big man Chazzell Robinson was named Newcomer of the Year. Senior guard Tristian Clay made first team all-district, Mike Menefield and Marc Segundo made the second team and Devante Lloyd earned an honorable mention selection.

The recent rash of wildfires in and around the Howard County area has many local residents asking that very question, as dry conditions and high winds aren't likely to go away anytime soon.
Big Spring Fire Marshal Carl Condray said the vital strategy area residents can take to protect themselves and their families during an evacuation is to prepare ahead of time.

he warehouse containing lights, displays and other items used in the annual Comanche Trail Festival of Lights was in the path of flames during Sunday's west side fire. Because of firefighters' quick response, the warehouse did not receive any damage, but light displays outside were burned.
“Thank the Lord and the firefighters that more damage wasn't done,” Pat Simmons, founder of the Festival of Lights, said Tuesday. “The damage could have been a lot worse.”
If patients can't get to the clinic, then the clinic will go to the patients.
That's the reasoning behind the VA Medical Center's Home Based Primary Care Program, which is designed to provide clinical medical services to home-bound veterans.
The program, which began locally last April, currently serves 39 veterans living within a 60-mile radius of the Big Spring VA Medical Center.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Today:
• FRANKIE RUBIO, 51, of 621 Sgt. Paredez Street, was arrested Tuesday on charges of public intoxication and two warrants from other agencies.
• RICHARD NORMAN RAMIREZ, 45, of 611 N. San Antonio Street, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of driving while intoxicated/ third or more.
• STEVEN ANTHONY RODRIGUEZ, 39, of 1413 Wood Street, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of disregard for a stop sign.
Grover Wayne Vogel, age 43, of Bangs, went to be with the Lord Feb. 27, 2011, after battling a long illness. Graveside services will be Thursday March 3 2011, at 3:30 p.m. in the Bangs Cemetery.
Mary Lou Simonek, 75, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, in Haltom City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Stanton with the Rev. Bob Porterfield, pastor of West Kentucky Baptist Church in Midland, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery of Stanton.
