Ashton Lauren Evans and Jordan Blake Rea were united in marriage June 30, 2012, at Travis Park United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas. The marriage was officiated by the Rev. Dr. William Smythe of Longview, formally of Big Spring.
The bride is the daughter of Mike and Anna Evans of Big Spring. The brideâ€™s grandparents are C.G. and Joyce Evans of Big Spring; Patty Vaughn of Alvin and the late Bob Vick.
The groom is the son of Patti and Jim Luttrell of Longview, and Drâ€™s. F. Dee and Karen Rea of Austin. He is the grandson of the late Ted and Martha Rea and Montel and Jerry Tessman.
It was an emotional afternoon for many law enforcement agents in and around the Howard County area Tuesday, as local and state officials came together to name the newly constructed joint law enforcement center after fallen DPS Trooper Troy M. Hogue, a Big Spring native killed in the line of duty in 1994.
The new Troy Hogue Joint Law Enforcement Center â€” located in the 3600 block of W. Highway 80 â€” represents a first for the Crossroads area, as the facility will house both the Big Spring Police Department and the Howard County Sheriff's Office.
Troy Hogue, a native son of Big Spring and DPS trooper, may be gone, but he is far from forgotten.
That message became apparent again and again during Thursday morning's ceremony to name the newly constructed law enforcement the Troy M. Hogue Joint Law Enforcement, which will soon house both the Big Spring Police Department and the Howard County Sheriff's Department under one roof.
Ralph A. Halfmann, 83, of St. Lawrence died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, in a San Angelo hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
He was born Sept. 28, 1928, in Rowena and married Mary Alberta Holder Oct. 5, 1949, in Rowena. She preceded him in death March 2, 2004. Together, they farmed in St. Lawrence for more than 54 years.
Evelyn Maxine Johnson, 88, of Duncanville, formerly of Big Spring died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, in a Duncanville nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Joey Bacon officiating.
She was born Dec. 22, 1923, in Richland, Navarro County, Texas and married Thomas Duke (TD) Johnson Jr. in 1940 in Big Spring. They were married for 59 years until his death in 2000.
The daughter of Richard Allen and Mattie Clyde Fullen, she grew up in Forsan and Big Spring.
Joe Molina Ledesma, 50, of Odessa, formerly of Big Spring died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas. Prayer services were at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Burial will follow in Trinity Memorial Park.
He was born July 12, 1962, in Spur, Texas, to Maria and Alfredo Ledesma. He had been a resident of Big Spring for most of his life. He married Gabriella Salmeron. He was a painter by trade and a Catholic.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday are the dates for this year's Sales Tax Holiday in Texas. State officials anticipate shoppers will save an estimated $64.8 million in state and local sales taxes over the three-day period.

Big Spring residents found out during the Texas Good Roads conference that within the next year and a half, there will be no new money for Texas roadways.
A tour of Texas brought State Rep. Drew Darby to Big Spring on Wednesday afternoon to address this transportation funding issue.
Since 2001, the federal government has increased its debt by 234 percent as a result of wars and other circumstances, according to Darby. In that same time period, the state government has increased its debt 281 percent. Total numbers of debt have gone from $17 billion in debt to $41 billion.

â€¢ WESLEY WADE RAWLS, 22, of 100 N. Cottonwood, was arrested Wednesday on charges of possession of marijuana â€“ two ounces or less, possession of drug paraphernalia and terroristic threat.
â€¢ JOE LUIS RODRIGUEZ, 19, of 604 Holbert, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for theft.
David Eugene Kukoly, 71, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Cornerstone Covenant Church with Pastor Michael B. Willard officiating.
He was born May 29, 1941, in Johnstown, Penn. and married Wilma Novak Nov. 23, 1969, in Johnstown, Penn.
