Herman Rosemond, 70, of Big Spring died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Carlos Emory knew exactly what needed to be done in Thursday’s game against Odessa College that hadn’t been done in Howard College’s last two losses to Midland College and Western Texas College.

A preliminary report from anthropologists at Texas Tech University have identified the skull found in Howard County in mid-December as both human and male, but law enforcement officials remain guarded concerning the investigation.
Sheriff Stan Parker said Wednesday his office has received a partial preliminary report relating to the skull, which was discovered Dec. 20 north of Big Spring.
Local law enforcement made more than a dozen arrests Wednesday afternoon on felony narcotics warrants, part of a six-month investigation into the traffic of drugs in the Crossroads area.
According to officials with the Big Spring Police Department, the investigation was conducted by the BSPD's Narcotics Division with assistance from the police department's criminal investigation division, Howard County Sheriff's Department, Howard County District Attorney’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security's San Angelo office.
As city and county officials begin looking at a consolidation of services between the Howard County Sheriff's Office and Big Spring Police Department, the entire matter could hinge on a meeting between the two governments in February.
Tickets for next week's Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce banquet are still available, but won't be for long, organizers say.
The deadline to purchase tickets for the Feb. 3 banquet is 5 p.m. Friday.
The Howard College men’s and women’s basketball teams are in action today against Western Junior College Athletic Conference foe Odessa College.
The Howard women start things off at 5:45 p.m. in the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum on Howard College’s campus and the men’s game follows at 7:45 p.m.
The No. 21 Howard men (13-6, 3-2) may need a win the most. The Hawks are coming off a 88-77 loss to Western Texas College in Snyder, being burnt by the Westerners’ Deverell Biggs for 31 points.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity Wednesday and early Thursday:
• BRUCE ERVIN ESSIX, 44, 408 S. Douglas, was arrested on two warrants for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.
• ERNEST ENRIQUE SILVAS, 26, 1408 Sycamore, was arrested on a warrant for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.
• AMMIE LEE HOWELL, 32, 1507 Hilltop, was arrested on a warrant for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.
• MICHAEL LEE RAWLS, 31, 1803 Morrison, was arrested on a warrant for prostitution and a warrant from another agency.
Funeral services for Rosco Thomas of Stanton have been set for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at the Evergreen Cemetery with Danny Bisbee officiating. A reception will follow at Bellvue Church Of Christ.
James Bannister "Bill" Allgood, 88, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Barstow, Texas, with burial to follow in Barstow Cemetery.
