ROSCOEâRoscoe Collegiate High School is in the second year of their program allowing students to not only earn college credit hours, but to graduate high school with their associates degree.
âThe goal of this program is to make all students college ready, career ready and life ready,â Jacob Tiemann, director of Roscoe Collegiate High School, said.
Last year, one senior took advantage of the program and received her associates degree three weeks before her high school graduation. This year 13 of the 24 graduating students received their associates degree at Western Texas College on May 6.

Vanessa Jean Raney of Roscoe, and Anthony Allen Pace of Big Spring, united in marriage April 23, 2011, at 5 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Roscoe.
The flower girls were Alexis and Desirae Pace, nieces of the groom and Danielle Raney, daughter. Best Man was Ace Raney, son of the couple. Ring bearer was Tyler Anderson, nephew of the groom.
The bride's grandmother made the three-tiered wedding cake decorated with white and pink icing and scattered with live gerbera daisies.
Former Big Spring resident Mark J. Silen has had his book âThe Perfect Time, the Universal Calendarâ published. The book details a simple method of marking time. The system consists of 52 weeks, times 7 days equals 364 days. Silen is a resident of San Angelo. His book is available online and at most major bookstores.
Petra âPatsyâ Torres, 52, of Big Spring died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Hospice House in Odessa. Funeral services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Ira Elmo âIkeâ Wasson, 67, of Big Spring died Thursday, May 12, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Joe Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olive Memorial Park.
Glennie V. Cain, 89, of Stanton died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in Midland. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Stanton with the Rev. David Harp officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011, at the funeral home.
LUBBOCK â If Forsan's Buffaloes are going to advance in the Class 2A state baseball playoffs they'll have to do it the hard way â winning two games today at Lubbock Cooper's Pirate Field against a formidable Bushland High School squad.
LUBBOCK â Howard College's Hawks managed to survive marathon games and a torrid pace through the loser's bracket to place themselves in position for a trip to nationals during the Region V Baseball Tournament here, but in the end, it may have been fatigue that sent them home Thursday.
It wasn't all fatigue, of course. A scrappy, highly-touted Grayson County College ballclub had more than a little to do with it.

â˘ TERESA ANN LIFF, 54, of 902 Timothy Lane, was arrested Thursday on a charge of public intoxication.
â˘ ATHEA RYANNE DARROW, 26, of 704 Willia, was arrested Thursday on warrants for no driver's license â when unlicensed and a warrant from another agency.
