Daniel Z. Strickland, 45, of Big Spring died Saturday, June 2, 2012, in a local hospital. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Imogene Weaver Allen, 87, of Coahoma died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at her residence. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel with the Rev. Elwin Collom, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.
She was born March 29, 1925, in Dublin, Texas, to Maggie and Jesse Howell. She had been a resident of Howard County for more than 75 years.
Fe Abreo Acosta, 84, of Big Spring died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt Olive Memorial Park.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
Fe was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Stanton, Texas, and married Conrrado Acosta on Sept. 11, 1945, in Big Spring. He preceded her in death Sept. 1, 2001.
COLORADO CITY â€” Rev up the engines and get ready for the CC Riders 12th annual Car Show and Sonic Cruise this Saturday. Toss in a drive-in movie and live music and make a day of it.
Pre-registration for those wanting to enter their vehicle in the car show, accepted through Thursday, will be $20. Otherwise, entry is $25 per vehicle. Inside the Railhead Building, spots are based on a first-come, first-served basis. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m. There will be 20 classes and plaques will be awarded for the top three places in each.
Amateur astronomers and local residents will get a chance to turn their sights toward the heavens Saturday, June 23, as officials with the Big Spring State Park prepare for their annual Stargazing Party atop the local landmark.
â€śSunset is approximately 9 p.m. and there will be a program as soon as it gets dark enough to see the projection, which is usually between 9:20 and 9:30 p.m.,â€ť said Park Manager Ron Alton. â€śI'm going to ask the astronomy club members to bone up on their constellations so we can point some of them out.â€ť

â€˘ JAVIER MIRAMONTES, 30, of Fort Worth, Texas, was arrested Sunday on a warrant from another agency.
â€˘ MICHAEL DEAN NALL, 33, of 1605 Sunset, was arrested Sunday on warrants for expired motor vehicle inspection certificate and expired registration.
â€˘ RAYMOND EARL OVERTON, 33, of 405.5 Moss Lake Rd., was arrested Sunday on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Area residents who received their property tax appraisals this year may find themselves with a case of sticker shock, as officials with the Howard County Appraisal District say higher market values are driving up valuations in the Crossroads area.
According to Ronny Babcock, chief appraiser for the appraisal district, said his office is already seeing a high volume of property owners filing protests regarding their appraisals.
The parade is on again.
After a year's absence, the Big Spring Cowboy Reunion and Rodeo will have a parade â€” at a cooler time.
â€śOne problem with the parade on Thursday afternoon was the heat this time of year,â€ť said Chad Wash, rodeo association board member. â€śThis year, we've put the parade back in, but moved it to Saturday morning when it's cooler.â€ť
The rodeo opens Thursday, June 21, and ends Saturday, June 23 with nightly performances at the Big Spring Rodeo Bowl.

â€˘ GABRIEL SOTO, 46, of 3304 W. Hwy 80 27, was arrested Friday on warrants for expired motor vehicle inspection certificate (two counts), failed to maintain financial responsibility (two counts), fail to appear (four counts).
LaDell Musgrove, 73, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 4, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Revs. Jim Wilkerson and Pat Ray Jr. officiating.
She was born June 11, 1938, in Boswell, Okla. and married Thomas Jerry Musgrove Sr. Jan. 15, 1954 in Big Spring. He preceded her in death Feb. 23, 2009.
LaDell owned and operated Dell's Cafe for 14 years, from 1974 to 1989. She was a great mother and grandmother. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
