Fifteen years and going strong.
The Festival of Lights at Comanche Trail Park will be turned on again starting Thursday and stay lit until Dec. 31.
“This all started as I was riding on a float in the parade one year and a lady asked me why they don’t light up the park,” Festival of Lights founder Pat Simmons said. “I don’t know who they are, but I told her I would look into it.”
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 9 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. today:
â€¢ RICHARD GLENN SPINKS, 38, of Odessa, was arrested Sunday on a charge of public intoxication.
â€¢ LEROY ELMER DOLLEY, 42, of 7000 I-20 S. Service Rd., was arrested Monday on a charge of driving while license invalid.
â€¢ STEVEN LOYD BATEMAN, 32, of 800 S. Nolan St., was arrested Sunday on a charge of public intoxication.
â€¢ KYLE LARAND COMBS, 40, of Waskom, was arrested Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated â€“ third or more offense.
Edwinna Vincent Carr went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa, Texas. She was surrounded by her three daughters, Sidney Arrick of Odessa, Texas, Mariless Frazier of Tarpley, Texas, and llameta Moore of Landrum, S.C., and her son-in-law, John Arrick of Odessa, and her long-time nurse, Sharon Fowler, who became a part of her family.
Scott Andrew Woolverton, 48, of Lusby, Md., formally of Big Spring, Texas, passed away suddenly Dec. 7, 2011, at St. Maryâ€™s Hospital, Leonardtown, Md.
Scott was born Sept. 16, 1963, in Big Spring, Texas, to the late Raymond James and Mary Lou Chagnon Woolverton.
Scott was employed as parts manager for Fitzgerald Auto Mall of Lexington Park, Md.

A Big Spring man and woman were indicted on charges of injury to a child and abandoning/endangering a child by a Howard County grand jury this week, charges stemming from the alleged Oct. 28 beating of a one-year-old female.
Johnny Michael Edmondson II, 21, of 300 S. Tulane (currently being held at the county jail in lieu of $25,000 bond), was indicted on charges of injury to a child (first-degree felony) and injury to a child (two counts, both third-degree felonies).
