A one-vehicle rollover on Interstate 20 west of Big Spring left one person dead and sent three others to the hospital.
According to Department of Public Safety reports, 20-year-old Brianca Marie Beltran of El Paso was pronounced dead following the accident, which took place shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday near FM 818. She was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said.
After being arrested Friday on charges of hindering police investigators and possession of drugs, Billie Dunn â mother of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn â has filed a protective order against former live-in boyfriend Shawn Adkins.
Dunn made the announcement she had filed a âno trespassingâ order against Adkins shortly after being released from custody following her arrest on charges of hindering apprehension and prosecution, possession of dangerous drugs and making a false report to police officers. All three charges are misdemeanors.
The possible fate of the Big Spring State Park tops the agenda for Tuesday's meeting of the Big Spring City Council, as the municipality â along with members of county government â attempt to formulate a plan to keep the facility open in the face of massive budget cuts by the state legislature.
The council is expected to discuss ongoing efforts by both the municipality and Howard County officials to keep the park from being closed, as well as appoint a committee to evaluate the issues involved in the matter.

â¢ MARKQUIN EARL HARRIS, 24, of 1601 Avion, was arrested Saturday on warrants for no driver's license â when unlicensed and failure to appear (three counts).
â¢ TAVIANCE DAVON CLEMONS, 24, of 2602 Ann Dr., was arrested Saturday on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana â two ounces or less.
â¢ BRENDAN THOMAS PAYTE, 19, of 304 Circle, was arrested Saturday on a warrant for possession of marijuana â two ounces or less.
LUBBOCK — John Alan Conroy, 37, of Big Spring, who pleaded guilty in December 2010 to one count of producing child pornography and one count of receiving a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, was sentenced Friday by U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings to 405 months in federal prison.
In addition, Judge Cummings ordered that Conroy, who has been in custody since his arrest in July 2010 on a related charge, serve a lifetime of supervised release following his imprisonment.
The first year West Texas Centers hosted Hoops, Dreams and Goals, no one expected it to become a yearly event.
But the wildly popular basketball tournament has become a tradition at West Texas Centers with no chance of it going away any time soon.
“I would say within the first hour, we were already talking about next year,” said Rodney Jones, West Texas Centers chief developmental health officer.
Hoops, Dreams and Goals is in its seventh year and still gaining steam.
Time is running out for area residents looking to take advantage of the annual AARP Tax-Aide program, as the April 18 deadline to file looms on the horizon.
Many area taxpayers were unable to get a jump on their filings efforts this year because of an Internal Revenue Service glitch that prevented those filing itemized returns from filing until February. However, the wait could pay off for some area residents.
Ronald M. Jett, 57, of Big Spring, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, in Nolan County from injuries received in a vehicle accident. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Charles Atkerson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
C. Roy Wright died Feb. 1, 2011, in Rogers, Ark. A celebration service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Big Lake Fire Department in Big Lake.
