Local law enforcement officials say they have identified the man they believe was killed in a hit-and-run accident Thursday evening near the intersection of Sgt. Paredez and Trades Avenue on the cityâ€™s north side.
The victim was identified by the Big Spring Police Department as 62-year-old Eleutario Torres Padron. However, law enforcement officials are having some trouble locating the manâ€™s family.
Brian Jensen is retiring, but donâ€™t expect him to take up a rocking chair anytime soon.
Jensen, chief of the Big Spring Fire Department, retired Friday after 23 years with BSFD and 35 years as a firefighter.
Along with his wife, Debbie, and their children, Jensen will relocate to Denton this summer to be closer to relatives.
At a reception in his honor Friday afternoon, Jensen said firefighting has been a very rewarding career.
Howard County commissioners will face a routine agenda when they meet Monday afternoon.
Among the items expected to be considered by the court, commissioners are expected to meet with either Gene Valentini or Leslie Soto of the Lubbock County Juvenile Mediation Services regarding case management.
The court will also discuss the possible sale of property in the city of Coahoma, as well as meet in executive session with with County Attorney Josh Hamby, according to County Judge Mark Barr.
Miss Suzanne Elizabeth Bubel and Mr. Jason Paul Williams, both of San Antonio, Texas, were united in marriage Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Father Francis McHugh.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Bubel of San Antonio, Texas.
Julianna Esther Rios, daughter of Adam Flores and Stacie Rios of Big Spring, was born Dec. 24, 2011.
She weighed 5 pounds 5 ounces and measured 18 inches long.
Her maternal grandparents are George and Deborah Gutierrez and the late Salome Rios.
Her paternal grandparents are Daniel Flores and Connie Sherman.
Julianna was welcomed home by her siblings, Jyllian and Joshua.
Makinze Kayann Blair, daughter of Heath and Jacy Blair of Coahoma, was born Dec. 2, 2011.
She weighed 8 pounds 1 ounce and measured 19 Â˝ inches long.
Maternal grandparents are Rodney and Linda Cozart. Paternal grandparents are James and Debbie Blair.
Makinze was welcomed home by her siblings Corbin and Braxton Blair.
Aria Angelica Saenz, daughter of Alberto Saenz and Ashley Carrillo of Big Spring, was born Dec. 26. 2011, at 10:44 a.m.
She weighed six pounds eight ounces and measured 18 inches.
Her maternal grandparents are Noelia Carrillo and Roy Carrillo. Paternal grandparents are Manuel and Elvira Saenz.
She was welcomed home by her siblings, E.J., Dominic and Demis Saenz, Ruben and Aubry Lopez.
Jaelyn Marie Gonzales, daughter of Abraham and Jennifer Gonzales of Big Spring, was born Dec. 9, 2011.
She was born at Odessa Regional Medical Center in Odessa.
She measured 20.75 inches and weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces.
Her maternal grandparents are Joe and Hortensia Jacobo, of San Angelo and Uvalde.
Paternal grandparents are Max Gonzales and Rebecca Rivera, of Uvalde, Texas.
She was welcomed home by her siblings, A.J. Gonzales, Jocelyn Gonzales and her baby angel Xavier Joel Gonzales.
Fabian and Cathy Ontiveros of Big Spring celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary Dec. 31, 2011.
The couple has 11 grandchildren in Lubbock and Big Spring.
The couple met at the Big Spring Bowl-A-Rama and were married Dec. 31, 2004. Both attend College Baptist Church. They still enjoy bowling.

According to Sgt. Tony Everett, public information officer with the BSPD, investigators are not releasing the name of the victim pending notification of next of kin, which has not yet been confirmed.
