The Big Spring High School Steers can say they stole a game from the Snyder Tigers on Tuesday. And they can mean it, literally.
The Big Spring High School boysâ€™ and girlsâ€™ track and field teams will continue their bids for the District 4-3A track titles on Thursday at Blankenship Field when the final day of the event get under way. The district held its preliminary races on Monday.
Skipper Driver, a local rodeo legend and former rodeo coach for Howard College, was recently inducted into the 2013 class of the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) Hall of Fame. A ceremony to formally recognize the induction will be held during the Howard College rodeo on Saturday, April 12, 2014 immediately following the grand entry.
Big Spring Police Department Narcotics Division, working in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration, will be offering the public an opportunity to get rid of unwanted and dangerous drugs.
The National Pharmaceutical Take Back Initiative will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26 at Walmart.

Bobby Jones, 80, of Big Spring, formerly of Lamesa, died Monday April 7, 2014. at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lamesa Memorial Park in Lamesa.
He was born to Lela and Will Jones in DeKalb, Texas on Dec. 26, 1933. He married Nell Moore on March 5, 1953. She preceded him in death May 15, 2011. He worked for the City of Lamesa for more than 30 years and was foreman over the Streets Department.
Services for Nancy J. Ingram Jones, 71, of Levelland, Texas, who passed away April 5, 2014, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at George Price Funeral Home Chapel, Levelland,
Thomas Hembree, 54, of Big Spring, died Monday April 7, 2014 at his residence. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
Kelsie Guinn punched her ticket to the Region I-3A Golf Tournament in grand fashion on Monday afternoon. The Big Spring High School senior fired a final round of 76 and nailed down the District 4-3A girlsâ€™ golf crown.
The Big Spring High School Lady Steersâ€™ arenâ€™t afraid to admit their ultimate goal is a little higher than just winning a district championships. That doesnâ€™t mean they wouldnâ€™t like to win the District 4-3A Track and Field Championship.
They may get that chance on Thursday.
