The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 9 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. today:
â€˘ VICTOR GUTIERREZ, 34, of Planiview, was arrested Saturday on a charge of forgery of a financial instrument.
â€˘ JOSEPH HEATH GRIFFITH, 28, of 2609 Wasson Rd. Apt. 57, was arrested Saturday on a charge of disorderly conduct â€“ exposing genitals/anus in public.
â€˘ ERNEST WILLIAM CLARK, 71, transient, was arrested Saturday on a charge of criminal trespass.
Robert "Kent" Cearley, 68, of San Angelo died Friday, July 22, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Elwin Collom, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery.
The Lone Star District of the Buffalo Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America is working with the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge Aerie 3188 in Big Spring to collect pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Lubbock.

Round two in the legal battle between Alon USA â€” owner of the Big Spring Refinery â€” and local residents claiming damages caused by the Feb. 18, 2008, explosion that rocked the Crossroads area to its core is expected to begin in 118th District Court with jury selection slated Monday morning.
The lawsuit â€” which names more than 150 plaintiffs â€” claims it was the negligence of Alon USA that caused the explosion, which occurred shortly after 8:20 a.m.
An agreement between Howard County and West Texas Centers tops Mondayâ€™s agenda for county commissioners, as the court holds its regularly scheduled meeting.

Howard College trustees will get their first look at a proposed budget for the coming fiscal year when they hold a workshop at 10 a.m. Monday in the Student Union Buildingâ€™s Tumbleweed Room. The workshop will be followed by a trustee meeting scheduled for 12:30 a.m.
Because of significant cuts in state aid to the college this year, the budget promises to be beyond conservative, officials promise.

Big Spring police are investigating two shootings which took place Friday night, one of which landed a local man in jail.
Timothy Arview, 30, was arrested at his home in the 800 block of Creighton and charged with deadly conduct.
Officers had been called to the residence about 9:30 p.m. in reference to shots being fired. Upon arriving at the scene, officers recovered numerous shell casings.
Comanche Trail Golf Course is hosting its City Golf Championship tournament July 30-31. The tournament will be open to any Howard County resident or current annual member of CTGC or Big Spring Country Club. The field will be divided into three divisions: Womenâ€™s, Menâ€™s and Menâ€™s Senior (55 or older).
Men must declare themselves eligible for the Championship Flight before play begins. Flights will be determined after Saturdayâ€™s (July 30) rounds are completed. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of each flight.
Bryan R. Juan, son of Drs. Mel and Lorna Juan, received a bachelor of arts in chemistry and a bachelor of science in biological sciences, Magna Cum Laude and honors in liberal arts during the May 2011 SMU commencement ceremony. After the university-wide commencement, SMU's schools and departments held individual ceremonies throughout the day to honor graduates.
Bryan will continue his education and pursue his doctor of medicine degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock.
Karlie Lyn Hernandez, daughter of Alfredo and Yuly Hernandez of Big Spring, was born July 13, 2011, at 4:44 p.m.
She weighed 7 pounds and meausured 19 1/2 inches.
Maternal grandparents are Guadalupe and Julian Burciaga of Big Spring.
Her paternal grandparent is Lupe Rivas of Big Spring.
