Charles Melvin Condray, affectionately known as â€śConcho Chuck,â€ť loving husband and father, died Jan. 31, 2011. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Johnsonâ€™s Funeral Home Chapel with Glenda Harbert officiating. Arrangements are by Johnsonâ€™s Funeral Home. Myrtis P. Sims, 92, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Francesca Parras, 83, of Big Spring died Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, in a local hospital. Her services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Doris McMorries, 83, of Tarzan died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at her residence. Her services are pending with Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton.
Preliminary work has begun on a facility which water district officials hope will eventually add up to 2 million gallons a day to the area's water supply.
Crews have begun preliminary foundation work on Colorado River Municipal Water District's new raw water production facility at the intersection of FM 700 and 11th Place, said John Grant, CRMWD general manager.

The 22nd Annual Great Texas Soup Cook-off is fast approaching. For two hours on Feb. 19, the aroma of soup will overtake the Martin County Community Center in Stanton.
Chefs from the Permian Basin will serve it out to try and obtain the title of best-tasting soup. The public will be able to sample the different soups from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

â€˘ CHRISTOPHER BENNETT WOOTEN, 50, of 301 State, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of driving while intoxicated â€“ third or more offense.
â€˘ MARTIN ANTHONY RAMIREZ, 20, of 1601 Stadium, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of consumption of alcohol by a minor.
The public will get a chance to sound off on whether Big Spring school officials should replace or renovate Moss Elementary.
A public hearing on Big Spring Independent School District plans for Moss will highlight this month's meeting of the BSISD Board of Trustees, scheduled for 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the high school board room.
One day isn't nearly enough, but it's a start.
A little more than 300 veterans will be given the opportunity to gather together and take a free flight to Washington, to visit the World War II Memorial.
“We are losing around 1,100 WWII veterans a day,” Jeff Ballenger said. “We are aiming to raise $250,000. These flights are one way that we can pay tribute to them.”
