Local veteran Steve Campbell isn't happy with the recent changes in services at the Big Spring VA Medical Center, and he's inviting other Crossroads veterans to join him Monday afternoon to show their concern for what he believes is the “closure” of the facility from the inside out.
According to Campbell, Veterans Administration officials have been less than forthcoming when it comes to the reduction of services at the Big Spring facility.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday:
â€˘ BRITTANI MARIE COFFMAN, 19, of 2201 Rocky Lane Rd., was arrested Friday on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol by a minor.
â€˘ RICHARD DUSTIN LOFTIN, 34, of 803 Avondale, was arrested Friday on a warrant for disregard of a stop sign, failure to appear.
â€˘ SCOTT HUNTER MANLY, 61, of 1904 N. Midland Dr. Apt. 32, Midland, was arrested Friday on a charge of public intoxication.
â€˘ THEFT was reported in the 100 block of S. Austin.
Funeral services for Kaci Bunn Harris, 49, of Lamesa will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 5, 2011, at Branon Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Clifton Igo officiating. Visitation will be held Monday July 4, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home in Lamesa. She passed away Wednesday June 29, 2011, in Lamesa.
Loretta (Zant) O'Neal of Rio Rancho, N.M., lost her battle with leukemia June 17, 2011. She was born June 19, 1953, to Max and Maxine Zant of Vealmoor.
Phillipe Rameriez, of Big Spring, died Friday, July 1, 2011 in a Dallas hospital. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
By the time Mark McKinney takes the stage Saturday night, Funtastic Fourth Festival board members will already know if this year’s downtown celebration will be the best yet. McKinney, a Big Spring native, is icing on the proverbial Independence Day cake. Even if Independence Day is really Monday.

During their Thursday night meeting, Big Spring Independent School District trustees approved a pilot program that will drastically change the technology that high school students get their hands on this coming school year.

GILMER â€” Funeral services for Glen D. Bunn, 76, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2011, at St. Theresaâ€™s Catholic Church in Union Grove with the Rev. Monsignor Xavier Pappu and Father Joseph Ezharath officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. A prayer rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by visitation from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home. Mr. Bunn died June 27, 2011.
Steve Rogers, 59, of Big Spring died Sunday, June 26, 2011, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Calvary Callender, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene, officiating.
