Football season in the Crossroads region will get off to an official start tonight with a gem at Memorial Stadium.

Leadership Big Spring deadline extended

Although the formal deadline to register for this fall’s Leadership Big Spring has passed, officials will still accept applications for a few more days.

As of this morning, 12 people have signed up for LBS, a nine-month class (the group meets once a month) that gives applicants a better understanding of the inner workings of this community.

Applications will be accepted until Sept. 8. Cost is $400 for chamber members and $600 for non-members.

Museum plans local fundraiser in September

Looking at art and appreciating it can be a little mentally taxing at times. But with a glass of good wine and fellow art connoisseurs as company can make looking at art a lot more fun. On Sept. 13, the Heritage Museum invites everyone to attend the 2014 Endowment Campaign kick-off.

Coach Derrick Jackson looked out at the court at the SouthWest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf Activity Center following the Lady Rattlers’ season-opening loss to the No. 19-ranked Western Texas College Lady Wranglers and breathed a sigh of relief.
Tuesday’s 25-7, 25-4, 25-6 loss to Western Texas wasn’t a story-book beginning for his team, but it was a beginning nonetheless.

Ken McIntosh, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating.
