Chamber wraps up another year, plans for future

The year is wrapping up for everyone, including the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber president Terri Johansen presided over her last meeting Wednesday afternoon.

“It has been a joy,” Johansen said. “If it wasn't for the great staff I wouldn't have been able to do this. The chamber has some gems working here.”

Travelers: Check the weather first

As motorists look to hit Texas highways this holiday season, local and state law enforcement officials are warning drivers to take precautions when getting behind the wheel.

According to Sgt. Tony Everett, public information officer with the Big Spring Police Department, one of the things travelers should check before pulling out of the driveway is the weather.

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. today:
• LAURA CONTRERAS STARR, 32, of 2506 Carlton, was arrested Wednesday on warrants for failure to report change of address/name and failure to appear.
• JESSE TONY REYES JR., 25, of 803 E. 20th St., was arrested Wednesday on a warrant from another agency.
• MICHAEL JAMES FLORES, 35, of 3007 Cactus Dr., was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for failure to maintain financial responsibility.
