If all goes well, the Big Spring Municipal Auditorium will be back in business by early next year.
The auditorium, which was shuttered in February 2009 as the result of accessibility issues, may have a new lease on life, thanks to an architectural proposal that will address the concerns which forced the building's closure.
Big Spring Independent School District trustees will discuss the possibility of adding a fourth new elementary campus to the district's construction to-do list when they meet at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the high school board room.
When voters approved $60 million in construction bonds in May, original plans called for the the building of three new elementary campuses and extensive renovation of Moss Elementary, among other projects.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. today:
• ADALABERTO EDDIE DELEON JR., 48, of 312 N.E. Eighth St., was arrested Tuesday on a charge of driving while license suspended/invalid – no insurance.
• MICHAEL DALE PARKER, 25, of 1202 Lloyd St., was arrested Tuesday on warrants for failure to maintain financial responsibility (three counts), driving while license invalid, no driver's license – when unlicensed (two counts), noise, speeding and failure to appear.

COLORADO CITY — A pair of witnesses identified by investigators Monday morning have apparently led officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety to believe 13-year-old Hailey Dunn is alive and in hiding, according to unconfirmed reports.
Hailey Darlene Dunn, an eighth grade student at Colorado Middle School, was last seen walking from her home in northern Colorado City to a friend's house about 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, according to reports issued by Interim Colorado City Police Chief John Bivins.
Proposed term limits for city council members and mayors tops the agenda for today's meeting of the Big Spring City Council, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Council Chambers on East Fourth Street.
If adopted by Big Spring voters, the change would limit council members and mayors to no more than two three-year terms — or six years in office — before being required to sit out one three-year term to be eligible to run again. First reading of the ballot language squeaked by the council on a 4-3 vote in December.
Designed to increase awareness of the Crossroads area in the state legislature every two years, local residents and officials will once again converge on the state capitol for Howard County Day at the Capitol Wednesday, Feb. 9.
According to Terry Wegman, executive director of the Big Spring Economic Development Corporation, there are a full slate of activities planned for the day-long event.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity late Monday and early Tuesday:
• LORI DANIELLE BAKER, 18, Midland, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
• KRISTOPHER ALLEN WATSON, 20, Midland, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
• WILLAM O'BRIEN SAULS, 21, Midland, was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana.
• CHRISTOPHER JACOB HAMILTON, 18, Midland, was arrested on a charge of harboring a runaway child.
• ERNEST LEE PAUL, 41, 2400 S. Monticello, was arrested on three warrants from other agencies.

COLORADO CITY — Even as temperatures began to fall and light gave way to evening Friday, volunteers searching for clues in the Dec. 27 disappearance of 13-year-old Hailey Darlene Dunn continued combing fields and wooded areas in northern Colorado City.
The team of volunteers – numbering well more than 100 local residents and concerned citizens from surrounding communities – was lead Friday by Stephanie Boyd, who undertook the enormous task of coordinating the search.
COAHOMA — The fact is as cold as Saturday morning's temperatures — Hailey Dunn could be just about anywhere. But neither that fact nor the chilly weather was going to stop a group of area residents from searching for her, anyway.
About 30 people gathered Saturday in this community, located about 25 miles west of the missing Colorado City teenager's home, to begin scouring Howard County for the girl.
FORSAN — School district trustees here will consider improvement to district-owned housing when they hold their regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the administration building board room.
Forsan Independent School District currently provides 14 houses on a reduced-rent basis to administrators and other extra-duty personnel such as coaches and band directors. But age is starting to catch up to those dwellings, Superintendent Randy Johnson said.
