ABILENE — Following a two-day trial, a federal jury in Abilene convicted Harvey James Pelland, 76, of Big Spring on all seven counts of a superseding indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Lubbock, in January.
U.S. District Judge Jorge A. Solis presided over the trial.
Native American dancers from all over the region will pit their skills against one another April 2-3, as the Big Spring Powwow gets ready to once again take over the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum.
And while the dancers are certainly sharpening their skills and moves for the annual event, Big Spring Powwow Committee Treasurer Connie Lesser said the local group has plenty of work to do before the festivities get under way.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. today:
â€˘ TERRY WILLIAM SAWYERS, 49, of 1504 S. Main St., was arrested Wednesday on a charge of public intoxication.
â€˘ MANUEL SOSA, 18, of 2510 Ent Dr., was arrested Wednesday on a charge of consumption of alcohol by a minor.
â€˘ BURGLARY OF A HABITATION was reported in the 1300 block of Stadium.
â€˘ CRIMINAL MISCHIEF was reported in the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Blvd.
