One person killed in rollover on I-20

A one-vehicle rollover on Interstate 20 west of Big Spring left one person dead and sent three others to the hospital.

According to Department of Public Safety reports, 20-year-old Brianca Marie Beltran of El Paso was pronounced dead following the accident, which took place shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday near FM 818. She was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

Billie Dunn files restraining order

After being arrested Friday on charges of hindering police investigators and possession of drugs, Billie Dunn — mother of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn — has filed a protective order against former live-in boyfriend Shawn Adkins.

Dunn made the announcement she had filed a “no trespassing” order against Adkins shortly after being released from custody following her arrest on charges of hindering apprehension and prosecution, possession of dangerous drugs and making a false report to police officers. All three charges are misdemeanors.

Officials to consider state park's future

The possible fate of the Big Spring State Park tops the agenda for Tuesday's meeting of the Big Spring City Council, as the municipality — along with members of county government — attempt to formulate a plan to keep the facility open in the face of massive budget cuts by the state legislature.

The council is expected to discuss ongoing efforts by both the municipality and Howard County officials to keep the park from being closed, as well as appoint a committee to evaluate the issues involved in the matter.

Healthy Woman event to coincide with Health Fair again

Healthy Woman is sending out a Call to Action: Women and Financial Preparedness. Troy Tompkins, CMFC, will be the featured speaker for the April 9 event. This is the third year that Healthy Woman has been held in conjunction with the Health Fair.

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 9 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. today:
• MARKQUIN EARL HARRIS, 24, of 1601 Avion, was arrested Saturday on warrants for no driver's license – when unlicensed and failure to appear (three counts).
• TAVIANCE DAVON CLEMONS, 24, of 2602 Ann Dr., was arrested Saturday on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana – two ounces or less.
• BRENDAN THOMAS PAYTE, 19, of 304 Circle, was arrested Saturday on a warrant for possession of marijuana – two ounces or less.
