If contractors working on the new Big Spring Aquatics Center at Comanche Trail Park seem hurried, it's no wonder, as city officials currently speculate the project will most likely miss its May 28 completion date.
Assistant City Manager Todd Darden said a problem with materials has the project's contractor — excluding work on the pool itself — showing concern his crew may not be able to meet the deadline.
Broadway isn't something you have to travel far to see, at least not this month.
For three nights, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the Hall Center for the Arts Studio Theatre will be the stage for “Broadway Forte” and “Dark of the Moon.”
Coahoma Elementary School is offering parents the opportunity to pre-register children for kindergarten. Kindergarten registration for 2011-2012 kindergarten classes will be held Monday, May 9 through Friday, May 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
To be eligible for this program, a child must be five years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2011. The district provides full-day kindergarten.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Monday and 7 a.m. today:
• ROBERT RAY COBLE, 22, of 2710 S. Anderson Rd., was arrested Monday on a charge of driving while license invalid/suspended with a previous conviction.
• KRISTI LOREE ELLIOT, 29, of 603 E. 12th St., was arrested Monday on warrants for driving while license invalid, no inspection certificate and a warrant from another agency.
• ASSAULT was reported in the 1200 block of Wood.
• THEFT was reported:
In the 400 block of E. Fourth Street.
In the 1300 block of Elm Street.
