Clinic offers health care option

Howard County and surrounding residents now have one more option when it comes to health care.

The Howard County Health Center, located at 1300 S. Gregg, officially opened its doors this week. The center provides general health care, including pap smears and well health checks.

According to Clinic Manager Joyce Nelson, the clinic also has a focus on diabetes.

“We treat anyone from infants to adults,” Nelson said.

Film society looking for 'Ghostbuster' volunteers

Who ya' gonna call?

If you happen to be in the downtown area July 15 it will most likely be the Ghostbusters, as the Big Spring Film Society gets ready to screen the 1984 classic featuring Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. The second flick in the film society's summer screening program, “Ghostbusters” — written by Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and Rick Moranis and directed by Ivan Reitman — marks an important milestone for both the local film society and its chairman.

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. today:
• ANSELMO JOEL ONTIVEROS JR., 25, of 4213 Hamilton, was arrested Thursday on a charge of public intoxication.
• ERNEST WILLIAM CLARK, 71, transient, was arrested Thursday on a charge of public intoxication.
• ASHLEY ELAINE ELLISON, 23, of 1902 Mittel, was arrested Thursday on warrants for driving while license invalid, failure to appear (two counts) and open container in a motor vehicle – driver.
