Two people were killed and three others were transported to area hospitals following a traffic accident Monday evening on Highway 176 approximately six miles east of Highway 349 in Martin County, according to officials with the Department of Public Safety.
Otis Nesbit, 50, a truck driver out of Millersview, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at approximately 8:59 p.m. by Martin County Justice of the Peace Jerrall Hedrick.
Howard County commissioners gave the go ahead to re-route power lines around the Howard County Detention Center in preparation for construction of a new joint law enforcement center during Monday morning’s meeting, a decision that could spell a minimal delay for the project.
Commissioners met with Jim Clements, area manager for Oncor Electric Delivery, during the meeting to discuss the re-routing efforts and how long it will take Oncor to complete the work.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Monday and 7 a.m. today:
â€¢ GARY LEE BOGNER, 45, of Mabank, Texas, was arrested Monday on a warrant from another agency.
â€¢ FRANK FIERRO JR., 64, of 603 N.W. Fifth St., was arrested Monday on a charge of public intoxication.
â€¢ MICHAEL REY LEWIS, 50, of 1002 Main Apt. 34, was arrested Monday on a charge of public intoxication.
â€¢ JORDAN WESTON HAMILTON, 23, was arrested Monday on a charge of driving while license invalid.
