Longtime friend and supporter of SouthWest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf, Dominick “Dom” Bonura, will be stepping in as the interim provost at the SWCID campus effective immediately.
The fire that destroyed a home in the 400 block of Lancaster late Saturday night has been ruled suspicious, according to Big Spring Fire Marshal Carl Condray, but the cause remains under investigation.
Condray said the home, which was located at 404 Lancaster and had been vacant for several years, was a total loss.
“The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. There had been transient activity through the home for several years,” Condray said. “It's being treated as a suspicious fire at this time.”
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday:
• JACQUELINE KAY RAINER, 21, of 1900 Martin Luther King Boulevard 108, was arrested Monday on warrants for driving while license invalid and fail to appear.
• ROBERT RENTERIA, 48, general delivery, was arrested Monday on a charge of public intoxication.
• GARY MONTEZ, 21, of 1018 Ridgeroad St., was arrested Monday on a warrant for theft less than $50.
