True to his word, Big Spring Mayor Tommy Duncan is set Tuesday night to request a special election be held in May to use economic development funds for an $11 million re-vamp of the city's water and wastewater facilities through a controversial 4B project.
FORSAN — It's a new year, but many of the issues facing Forsan Independent School District in 2012 will be familiar ones.
Ask Superintendent Randy Johnson about what FISD is eyeing in t2012 and the first answer he will give you is the same that has concerned school districts the past few years — how to deal with shrinking state allocations.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 9 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. today:
• LYNDSEY RACHELLE KELLY, 23, OF ODESSA, was arrested Sunday on charges of use or possession of illegal smoking materials and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• STEPHEN BRETT SISSON, 22, of Stanton, was arrested Sunday on charges of use or possession of illegal smoking materials, prohibited weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Snowy weather has forced school district officials at Big Spring, Forsan and Coahoma to dismiss classes early today.
Classes at the three districts will let out at noon today and all athletic activities scheduled for tonight have been postponed until a later date or cancelled outright.
In addition, the monthly meeting of the Forsan ISD board of trustees scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight has been cancelled.
UPDATE (1:35 p.m.): Coahoma and Forsan officials said Tuesday classes will begin at 10 a.m.
