3 killed in Highway 87 collision

Three Howard County residents were killed Thursday morning when the SUV they were traveling in was hit by an oilfield pumper truck near the intersection of FM 846 and U.S. Highway 87.

According to officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident was reported at 5:18 a.m. at the intersection, located approximately 10 miles from Big Spring.

Festival of Lights opens Saturday

Comanche Trail Park will be transformed to a Christmas wonderland starting Saturday when the Festival of Lights begins its annual holiday run.

Hundreds of exhibits featuring more than a million lights will be on display. Themes range from traditional holiday scenes to patriotic displays, with a little West Texas flavor thrown in for good measure, organizers promise.
