December 15, 2012

STANTON — A Lamesa man currently believed to be on the run in Mexico was indicted on a single count of murder Thursday by a Martin County grand jury, one of more than a dozen true bills handed down by the jury.

Jose Americo Garcia, 37, formerly of Lamesa, was indicted on a charge of murder (first-degree felony) for the Aug. 21, 2011, shooting of 32-year-old Anau Rodriguez Villagrana, also of Lamesa.

Cossacks bring Christmas cheer to needy children

December 15, 2012

There were Harleys in place of reindeer, the low-pitched rumble of motorcycles instead of the high-pitched jingle of sleigh bells and with Santa Claus otherwise engaged, Jeremy Klaus donned the famous red suit and became Santa “Klaus.”

But make no mistake — Christmas came to a dozen Big Spring families Saturday.

For the 21st year, members of the local Cossack Motorcycle Club hopped on their Hogs and spread holiday cheer to needy children and their families as part of their Bikes for Tykes Toy Run.
