Officials with the Big Spring Salvation Army Angel Tree program say the cards are being chosen from the charity-driven trees quickly this year, however, they have been a bit slow to be returned.
According to Ada Lafler, Angel Tree coordinator for the local charity, these first few weeks of the program — which provides Christmas gifts for area children and seniors of low income families — have been encouraging.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Monday and 7 a.m. today:
• TERRENCE ALI YOUNG, 23, of 711 Abrams, was arrested Monday on charges of evading arrest or detention with a previous conviction and violation of a protective order.
• ROBERT RUBEN SANCHEZ, 48, of 1023 Stadium, was arrested Monday on a charge of public intoxication.
• BRENDA LUNA VALDIVIA, 32, of 1603 Wood, was arrested Monday on a charge of abandoning/endangering a child – criminal negligence.

A Big Spring woman was arrested Sunday afternoon on a charge of abandoning/endangering a child – criminal negligence after law enforcement officials say she left her 1-year-old infant in a vehicle unattended while she went shopping at the local Walmart Supercenter.
Katherine Rios, 23, of 306 N.E. Sixth St., was arrested Sunday on a charge of abandoning/endangering a child – criminal negligence.

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 9 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. today:
• JUAN MANUEL GONZALEZ, 34, of 2310 S. Runnels, was arrested Sunday on charges of failure to signal within required distance and driving while license invalid – DWI related.
• GONZALO HERNANDEZ GONZALES, 36, of Bonham, Texas, was arrested Sunday on a charge of public intoxication.
• ANSELMO HILARIO JR., 27, of 1409 Bluebird, was arrested Sunday on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana – two ounces or less.
