Few candidates for municipal elections

March 1, 2012

Time is running out for area residents looking to toss their political hats in the ring for this year's municipal elections. Monday is the deadline to file.

In Big Spring filings have moved along rather slowly during the past several weeks, with none of the three incumbents having yet filed to run for re-election to their seats on the city council.

The District 2 seat, currently held by Manuel Ramirez Jr., has drawn a single candidate so far, as local resident Carmen Moreno Harbour has filed to run for the office.
