Big Spring residents will have an opportunity to voice their opinions regarding a proposed 4B project to overhaul the municipality's water and wastewater facilities using up to $13 million in economic development funding. The public hearing will be held Tuesday evening in city council chambers.
A 51-year-old Big Spring man is in stable condition with a gunshot wound at Scenic Mountain Medical Center and the alleged shooter is in custody, police said this morning.
Genaro Castroena was shot in the abdomen during an argument that took place around 11:45 p.m. Saturday at 400 W. Fourth. He was rushed to the local hospital by ambulance.
According to police, the shooting suspect, 62-year-old Alberto Hernandez-Diaz, was taken into custody and transported to the Howard County Detention Center. He was waiting arraignment this morning.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. today:
• ALBERTO HERNANDEZ-DIAZ, 62, of 700 W. Fourth St., was arrested Sunday on a charge of assault-aggravated with deadly weapon.
• VICTOR ZAMORA HERNANDEZ,35, of 2505 Gunter Circle, was arrested Sunday on a charge of theft between $50 and $500 shoplifting.
• SAMMY FERRELL, 50, of 509 N. Johnson St., was arrested Sunday on a charge of criminal trespass-habitation/shelter.
