United Way of Big Spring and Howard County has announced the new list of agencies â€” 16 to be exact â€” for 2013.
The board of directors decided to accept the previous 15 agencies with the inclusion of one more agency for the upcoming campaign.
â€śWe will still be serving the same agencies as we did last year, but this year we have added the Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls Club as two separate entities, bringing our total number of agencies to 16 instead of 15,â€ť Executive Director Sandy Stewart said.

The Big Spring Cowboy Reunion and Rodeo makes its 79th run beginning Thursday in the historic Big Spring Rodeo Bowl.
Featuring the nation's top professional cowboy and cowgirl performers in the arena and country star Aaron Watson on stage, the annual event will continue through Saturday night. Gates open at 7 each evening with the grand entry to get under way at 8. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children in advance and $12 and $8 at the gate. Box seats are available for $250.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. today:
â€˘ EDWARD GARCIA JR., 33, of 642 Manor Lane, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for criminal mischief â€“ more than $500 and less than $1,500.
â€˘ JERRY MITCHELL MARCON, 20, of 1002 N. Main St. Apt. 55, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of criminal mischief â€“ more than $50 and less than $500.
â€˘ ASSAULT was reported in the 2500 block of Chanute.
â€˘ THEFT was reported:
In the 4200 block of W. Highway 80.
In the 900 block of Settles.
