A Howard County grand jury handed down more than a dozen indictments in 118th District Court Thursday afternoon, including true bills for first-degree felony charges of attempted robbery and sexual assault of a child.
Among those indicted Thursday was 51-year-old Randy Joe Hurrington, currently being held at the Howard County Detention Center, who was true billed on a charge of attempted robbery, a first-degree felony (enhanced).
Area residents will get an opportunity to enjoy the rings of Saturn this weekend — compliments of the Big Spring State Park — as the local facility prepares to host its annual Stargazing Party atop Scenic Mountain Saturday.
“Sunset is approximately 9 p.m. and there will be a program as soon as it gets dark enough to see the projection, which is usually between 9:20 and 9:30 p.m.,” said Park Manager Ron Alton. “I'm going to ask the astronomy club members to bone up on their constellations so we can point some of them out.”
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. today:
• JEAN LOUISE NOGGLER, 41, of 800 Settles, was arrested Thursday on warrants for stop, stand or park within an intersection and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
• BOBBY HAROLD DAVIS, 37, of 3303 Cornell, was arrested Thursday on a charge of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.
• MANUEL ROMERO LOZANO III, 39, of 2504 Chanute, was arrested Thursday on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and a warrant from another agency.
