A local man is in custody after being arrested in connection with a Friday shooting that wounded four people at a birthday party in east Big Spring.
Holston Banks III, 20, was arrested on four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for his alleged role in the shooting, which occurred late Friday night in the 1400 block of East Sixth Street.
Police responded to a â€śshots firedâ€ť call shortly before 11 p.m. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered four gunshot victims, two of whom had received multiple wounds.
The four victims are:
Area residents who are delinquent in paying their property taxes will reach a very important â€” and costly â€” legal milestone Monday, as penalties and interest continue to pile up on unpaid tabs.
Taxpayers who are delinquent on their property tax will have until the end of the business day Monday to pay their bill if they want to avoid additional penalties and interest, as well well as a large attorney fee, according to County Tax Assessor Kathy Sayles.
With less than a week to go, plans for Pops in the Park are coming together.
During the last meeting before Pops takes place Tuesday at the amphitheater, committee members finalized plans for the annual event which will be celebrating its 15th year.
â€śWe hope everyone comes out to join us for this extra special milestone anniversary event,â€ť Kelly Grant, Pops in the Park co-chair said. â€śIt will be a memorable event for the community with similarities from previous years and a few new additions.â€ť
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday:
â€˘ KRYSTAL LYNN DEHOYOS, 23, of 1308 Wood, was arrested Friday on a warrant for safety seat system-child younger than eight or less than 4â€™9â€ť tall.
â€˘ LUIS ARRIAGA, 49, of 905 Second #12, was arrested Friday on a charge of public intoxication.
â€˘ JOEL BARRERA, 28, of 308 E. St. Anna, was arrested Friday on a warrant from other agency and evading arrest/detention.
