The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. today:
â¢ EDWARD GARCIA JR., 33, of 642 Manor Lane, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for criminal mischief â more than $500 and less than $1,500.
â¢ JERRY MITCHELL MARCON, 20, of 1002 N. Main St. Apt. 55, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of criminal mischief â more than $50 and less than $500.
â¢ ASSAULT was reported in the 2500 block of Chanute.
â¢ THEFT was reported:
In the 4200 block of W. Highway 80.
In the 900 block of Settles.
Motorists traveling along Birdwell Lane this week are being asked to use caution and have some patience, as one of the southbound lanes of the thoroughfare from Sunset to 11th Place will be closed for repairs.
According to Assistant City Manager Todd Darden, the street repairs are part of the city of Big Spring's recent waterline replacement project that began on Third and Fourth streets and recently made its way out to Birdwell Lane.
The runoff election to select a new Big Spring Independent School District trustee is attracting next to no attention from voters so far.
With early voting for Saturday's runoff ending today, only 10 ballots have been cast in the runoff, which will select the school district's District 2 trustee.
Incumbent Maria Padilla, seeking a fourth term on the board, is facing challenger Pat DeAnda in the election.

â¢ JARRETT THEODRIC EVANS, 26, of 1313 Kindle, was arrested Monday on a charge of urinating in a public place.
â¢ SAMMY FERRELL, 50, of 509 N. Johnson, was arrested Monday on a charge of public intoxication.
A traffic accident near the 186 mile marker of Interstate Highway 20 early Saturday morning claimed the life of a California man and sent one other person to the hospital in serious but stable condition, according to officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Ronald Anthony Webb, 66, of Redland, Calif., was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Howard County Justice of the Peace Quail Dobbs at 5:51 a.m.
Kids, get ready to take flight.
Kids Klub at Hangar 25 Air Museum â Flight School â will be July 16-20 for children between the ages of 6 and 12 years old.
âThis is going to be a week-long journey of discovering the secrets of aviation, the life of a soldier and several other activities,â Museum Administrator Genevieve Stockburger said.
During the week, pilots will be coming in to speak to the participants about different types of airplanes and the life of a soldier. Each day will have a mission pertaining to the day's lesson and activities.
Fireworks may be one of the main attractions, but vendors aren't far behind.
Spots are still available for those wanting to sign up as a vendor for the 2012 Pops in the Park celebration, set for July 3 at the Comanche Trail Park Amphitheater.
âEach year, we have those who come back from the previous year, but we also add a few new ones each year,â said Becky Crane, vendor director for Pops in the Park.

â¢ JESUS ANTONIO PINA-TRUJILLO, 22, of 6000 N. Highway 87, was arrested Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
â¢ ANGELA ANN MCGEE, 29, of 902 E. 12th St., was arrested Sunday on charges of evading arrest or detention and possession of drug paraphernalia.
â¢ NINA MARIE MARQUEZ, 29, of 1510 Sycamore Apt. B, was arrested Sunday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
An early morning accident Saturday near Coahoma claimed the life of one person and sent two others to the hospital.
According to Howard County Sheriff Department Deputy Jimmy Mayes, the accident call came in around 3:45 a.m. Saturday. Debris from the wreckage forced officials to shut down the portion of the interstate at about 4 a.m.
The accident occurred when a 1998 black mustang wrecked out near the Sand Springs exit. A tractor trailer traveling west hit the Mustang while it was disabled on the highway and shortly after, another semi came along and hit the first tractor trailer.

â¢ JANEY BELL MCCORMICK, 60, of 620 State St., was arrested Friday on a warrant from other agency.
â¢ AMANDA KAY LONG, 25, of 2704 Larry Dr., was arrested Friday on a warrant from other agency.
