The school that looks like it was “built inside a bowl” passed a major test last week.
Because of costs and other factors, the new Goliad Elementary building, located at the intersection of 18th and Goliad, was built below street level. However, this raised concerns from some local residents about how water-tight the school would be in case of heavy rains.
Look in the sky and you just might see a hang glider.
U.S. Hang gliding and Paragliding Competition is returning to Big Spring for another year at the McMahon-Wrinkle Airport July 22 through July 28.
“We are doing it again,” Airpark Director Jim Little said. “We have hosted the national and worldwide competition here before and this year we are hosting the national competition again.”
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Friday and 7 a.m. today:
• JOSHUA VINCE MUNOZ, 24, of Lubbock, Texas, was arrested Friday on a warrant from another agency.
• SAMUEL SABELLON VASQUEZ, 29, transient, was arrested Friday on a charge of criminal trespass.
• HECTOR YOBANY MERLO, 43, transient, was arrested Friday on a charge of criminal trespass.
• JIMMY NOEL ANTUNES, 25, transient, was arrested Friday on a charge of criminal trespass.
• GUADALUPE HINOJOS, 38, of 100 N.W. Third St., was arrested Friday on a warrant for criminal mischief.
