Local man jailed on vehicular assault charges

Two people remain hospitalized after a Big Spring man allegedly assaulted them with his motor vehicle early Sunday morning.

Edward Aguilar, 33, is in custody at Howard County Detention Center this morning after being arrested on multiple aggravated assault charges, according to information released by Big Spring Police Department Sgt. Tony Everett.

Everett said the alleged assault arose from a domestic disturbance in the 2600 block of Albrook.

Council to consider permit

The Big Spring City Council will meet Tuesday to handle a rather routine agenda, including final approval of an ordinance providing for the issuance of a specific use permit for construction and operation of a nursing home facility near the corner of Alamesa and Wasson.

The permit, which was applied for by M.U.G.S. Properties LLC for the 10-acre property, was first heard by the council during its June 26 meeting, which included a public hearing on the matter.

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 9 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. today:
• MERRILL CLAYTON CAMPBELL, 44, of 800 W. Marcy Apt. 16, was arrested Sunday on a charge of deadly conduct – discharge of a firearm.
• BRIANNA MICHELLE GRAHAM, 32, of 1404 Wood, was arrested Sunday on a charge of public intoxication.
• JOSE MARCOS PESINA, 34, of Midland, Texas, was arrested Sunday on a charge of hindering officers discharging official duties.
