In just a few days, the Comanche Warrior Triathlon returns to Big Spring.
Triathletes will be swimming, biking and running up and down county roads and through Comanche Trail Park starting at 8 a.m. Saturday.
âWe are looking forward to this year and can't wait for all the triathletes to get here,â Debbie Wegman, event coordinator, said.
The competition, in its fifth year, will include a 500-meter swim in Comanche Trail Lake, transition to a 30K bike ride and will conclude with a 5K run.
Local law enforcement officials say they are following up on several leads from the vandalism and theft at the Big Spring Vietnam Memorial believed to have taken place Aug. 25, however, no arrests have been made.
According to Sgt. Tony Everett, public information officer with the Big Spring Police Department, the investigation into the vandalism and theft is ongoing.
âWe have several leads we are following up on at this time,â Everett said. âThis is an ongoing investigation and I can't really say much more than that.â
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. today:
â¢ JEANNETTA RAMEY HERNANDEZ, 44, of 1106 S. Birdwell, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant from another agency and charges of driving while license suspended/invalid with a previous conviction and failure to appear.
â¢ NOEL FIGURA NOYOLA, 51, of 7351 FM 1205 in Coahoma, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant from another agency.
â¢ ROBERT RUBEN SANCHEZ, 48, of 1023 Stadium, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of public intoxication.
