UW agencies receive allocations

Sixteen local organizations had something to be thankful for Tuesday evening.

United Way of Big Spring and Howard County board of directors held its annual meeting at Dora Roberts Community Center where the supported agencies were presented with their portion of $300,000 in allocations for the year, from the 2013 campaign.

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity:
• PRINCESS MARIE TREVINO, 24, 3607 Hamilton, was arrested on warrants for failure to maintain financial responsibility, no driver's license and failure to appear.
• LAUREN RACINE SMITH, 25, 1501 Scurry, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, theft and assault/family violence.
• JACOB RAY ALVARADO, 20, 300 Tulane, was arrested on a charge of evading arrest/detention.
• JOSEPHINE GUADALUPE TORRES, 23, Coahoma, was arrested on a charge of assault by contact.
