Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce has set the time, place and date for its annual banquet and as a result, has extended the deadline for Man and Woman of the Year nominations.
First things first. The banquet will begin at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 on the Sonic Floor at Dorothy Garrett Coliseum. Tickets are $25 per person, with a reservation deadline of Jan. 25.
Masters of ceremony will be Jan Hendricks and Tatum Hubbard with CBS 7 News. Providing entertainment will be Eddie Vandewalker and the Howard College Music Department. Great Western Dining will cater the meal.
Area teens intent on barking their tires or slinging gravel on Big Spring streets could certainly find themselves in hot water with law enforcement. However, such a childish transgression will no longer merit a trip behind bars.
The Big Spring City Council approved a new ordinance Tuesday night that will hopefully address a problem presented several years ago when the state legislature made such exhibitions of acceleration a Class B misdemeanor.
