Voter ID help offered

Officials with the Texas Secretary of State's office will be in Big Spring next week to provide help for people needing to obtain a voter identification card.

The Secretary of State, in conjunction with the Department of Public Safety, will set up two mobile stations to help people obtain an Election Identification Certificate free of charge, Howard County Election Administrator Saundra Bloom said.

Old Sorehead Trade Days, which takes place this weekend, isn’t sold out in terms of wares, antiques, handcrafted items and food (don’t forget the corn dogs, kettle corn, turkey legs and funnel cakes) of course. But if you’re a vendor looking for a place to do some business, you’ll have to go on down the road. With 615 vendors already signed up for what organizers call ”the best little show in West Texas” Stanton will definitely be bustin’ at the seams.

Add in 30,000 expected visitors over the show’s two-day run, and this town of 2,700 will swell indeed.
