PD investigates home invasions

Big Spring police officers are investigating a pair of home invasion robberies that left one man hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his right leg.

Police responded to the report of an aggravated robbery at 12:39 a.m. Tuesday at 1504 Tucson.
“Upon arrival, the complainant advised she had left her home for a few minutes around 12:23 a.m. When she returned, her 14-year-old son advised her three armed males had forced their way into the residence,” said Det. Sgt. Tony Everett, BSPD information officer.

Phillips named assistant superintendent at BSSH

Big Spring State Hospital Superintendent Lorie Dunnam named Traci Phillips as the hospital’s new assistant superintendent.

Phillips assumed the role Nov. 1 — a position previously held by Dunnam, who was named the hospital’s superintendent Sept. 1 upon the retirement of longtime superintendent Ed Moughon.

Help sought in packing boxes for ‘military heroes’

Adopt a Military Hero, Howard County’s Christmas for the Troops, is calling on volunteers to help wrap-up its annual drive to send gifts to deployed military personnel.

“We have everything set up like an assembly line,” said Debbie Burrow, program coordinator. “We’ve already prepackaged boxes. We know what order they need to be packed in for it all to go there. Then they are sealed up and the post office picks them up on Friday.”
